Hawaiʻi Pacific University (HPU), a private, nonprofit university on Oʻahu with an urban campus in downtown Honolulu, is the largest tenant of Aloha Tower Marketplace with residence halls on the second and third floors, a student and community dining center along the water's edge and multi-purpose classrooms interspersed amongst public retail, event spaces and restaurant outlets. Established in 1965, HPU is home to over 5,000 students from Hawaiʻi, the mainland and over 70 countries around the world. As an international learning community set in the rich cultural context of Hawaiʻi, HPU prepares graduates to live, work and learn as active members of a global society.

Hawaiʻi Pacific University embraces a set of core values as representative of the spiritual, ethical and philosophical principles that support its community, as well as the ideals to which all around the globe aspire to. As they are firmly rooted in Hawaiʻi's host culture, they are expressed in Hawaiian and English:

PONO, meaning righteous, honest and moral and an energy of necessity.

KULEANA, meaning responsibility and rights and concern for all interests, property and people.

ALOHA, meaning hello, goodbye, love, kindness and grace, unity, humility, patience and waiting for the right moment.
